Mossy giants, colobus monkeys, the smell of wet earth. We climb gently from rainforest to heather, your body easing into altitude.

Day 3
Above the Clouds
The world drops away. Lava ridges, alpine desert, a sky so clean it hurts. Tonight, dinner in a tent at 4,000m.

Summit
Sunrise on Africa's Roof
Midnight start. Headlamps tracing the scree. Then — Uhuru Peak. 5,895m. The first light of day painting the glaciers gold.
